We bid farewell to the team at the Bunyonyi Lodge, everyone is there and wave goodbye. The people are very friendly and like South Africans, especially when we mention Madiba and Bafana Bafana. We became involved and shared thoughts about one anothers children, Cape Town, South Africa, their lifestyle here etc. They enjoy it when we light a fire in the evening and braai while the Europeans eat food from tin-cans. We drive through the big tea plantations and the road is slippery at times.

We arrive at the Katara lodge on the edge of the Rift Valley and the QE National Park and the Kazinga Channel which joins Lake Edward with Lake George. Oh dear, all these names from the Empire. It just does not fit in Africa.

Accommodation costs $ 275 for two, but we manage to secure a camping-spot at $20 in the parking area. For the rest, we share the facilities and sit in the thatched-roof lounge with its view of the lakes and channel, just like the rich people; n Boer maak n plan, we have to stretch our money; there are still a lot of nights before the end of our trip..

0,5 south, a few km to the Equator!
