Dag 44 Murchison Falls Uganda

We enter the Murchison Falls National Park. Unfortunately for us South Africans, the charge for the vehicles only is $150 for 24 hours plus $40 pp. This is the general practice at all their national parks and they do not take credit cards. You need to obtain a type of card at their head office, but luckily they accept our dollars at the gate. We drive to the Paraa ferry which links the northern part of the park on the other side of the Nile with the southern part. The Murchison Falls is an experience. The mighty Nile in its entirety cascades through a gorge of 6 metres. These falls were discovered by Sir Samuel en Lady Florence Baker. We drive through the Rabongo woods [Budongo Forest] with its colossal Mahogany trees. The place is full of chimpanzees and colobus apes.

Then we head south, to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, to look for the rare Shoebill. After all the mud and dirt roads, we have tarred road surface and with the singer Passenger adding to it over the speakers with Life is for living, so live it, or you better off dead.
